24 April 2010 - White Lake, NC - After a brief lunch break, the Southern Putting Tour commenced with the afternoon 54 hole event at the White Lake, NC Putt Putt Golf at Goldston's Beach. 28 professionals and 23 amateurs again enjoyed pleasant temperatures and minimal winds for the second event of the day.
In the professional division scores in the first round were strong. 2006 PPA National Doubles Champion
Randy Orr and 2005 South Carolina Match Play Champion
Darrell Britt blistered the course with rounds of 14 under par 22. Closed behind was two time National PPA Seniors Champion
Bill Baus at 23. Seven players were one stroke back at 24. Orr continued his mastery of the course in round two, carding a round of 13 under par 23 to hold the lead at 45. Britt's pace slowed as he finished the round at 7 under par 29, for a two round total of 51. PPA Hall of Fame member and 1973 PPA National Champion
Daryl Freeman, one of the seven tied at 24 after one round, was close behind Orr at 47. Five players were at 50 after the second round. A final round 24 for a total score of 71 secured Freeman's first win of the young season. 1997 PPA National Champion
Randy Reeves put together a middle round of 23 and a final round of 22 to finish one stroke behind Freeman at 72. Orr' pace slowed a bit in round three, and he settled for third place honors with a score of 73. The cash line for the 28 professionals was 77.

Randal Smith each bolted out of the gate with 14 under par rounds of 22. 2009 APA National Champion
Larry Smith and two-time Elton Davis Memorial APA Champion
Keith Waters were close behind at 24. 1997 PPA High Point Open Champion
Rodney Ashley was one stroke back at 25. Both Alley and Randal Smith saw their lead disappear with second round scores of 6 under par 30. They were tied for fourth place along with 2008 Southern Putting Tour APA Champion
Ben Blake at 52. The tournament lead was now shared by Waters and Larry Smith after both carded rounds of 26 for a two round total of 50. 2009 APA Georgia State Champion
Todd Trent was alone in third place after turning in a round of 11 under par 25, for a two round total of 51. Trent then assembled his best round of the day at 13 under par 23, for a three round score of 74, good enough for a one stroke victory. Randal Smith also finished with a 23 in the final round, settling for runner up honors at 75. Waters kept his play steady with a final round 26, finishing alone in third place at 76.
With two cookouts planned for the evening and plenty of other festivities sure to take place, players and their families retired to plenty of good food and fellowship before returning for the weekend's final event on Sunday, the 26th Annual Carolinas' Open.
